www.30boxes.com
With all the talk of the supposed launch of Google Calendar, which is still undetermined if it is even going to exist, 30boxes.com steps up and takes the role. What is it exactly? Well to put it simple it is just an online calendar. Why should you care? Well because it does a bit more than a regular calendar. One of its biggest features, which seems to be a huge with all Web 2.0 sites is the ability to share your calendar with other people making it a social website. You can add and manage a "buddy list"; anyone you wish to share you events with. This would be good for people who have a really packed schedule. They can let there friends and family see what they have planned and help them see when they might be available to meet up and do what ever it is they do. I am sure there are many other reasons why people would want to share there calendar, including the fact that people just love to post everything about themselves on the net.

With it's very simple, clean design and really good usability, it takes seconds to learn how to use. To add and edit events is just simply point and click. Everything is pretty straight forward and bare bone making it very quick. Which is a good thing, seeing as now one will use an online calendar if its takes 10 seconds to load every time you try to add a new post. Another common feature you see is tagging, and of course this site has it. It makes its easier for finding and segmenting your calendar. It makes it possible to share only certain part of your events with specific people. So events tagged with “Work” will only be shared with your co-workers and your night out binge drinking tagged “Personal” will only be for your friends to see. If you have a meeting on Monday at 1 mission street, San Francisco , yet you have no clue where that is? Just put the address in between brackets [ ] and it will be linked to Google Maps showing your exactly where it is. Have an important task? Just throw a asterisk * in the box and it will put a little yellow star beside that task. Have repeating task? Just type in repeat weekly, monthly or yearly after the event and it will automatically do it for you. Type in Private after the event and it will hide it from everyone on your buddy list, to keep your special night with your lover from prying eyes. 30 boxes also lets you track some of your popular site’s including Webshots, Flickr, LiveJournal, Myspace, Upcoming.org, Weather (USA only), and any other RSS feed you might want to throw in. You can also download the calendar to your Apple iCal (and subscribe) and Microsoft Outlook. Have a website? Add a Java/Html and include a snippet of your calendar on it or any other web site. You can customize your profile, the color scheme, the layout and most of the things you would like. It is just packed full of features and they have a lot more on the way. Go check it out; you don’t even have to sign up for an account to try it out. Play around with it and see what you think, chances are if your someone who likes to keep there life organized this would be a useful site for you.
